I've been sick the last couple days, and as a result really not feeling up to posting anything. I did manage to finish this piece before it really hit me (I teased it in my stories a little bit), and I really love how it came out. It was based on a photo I took of a sculpture by Kondō Takahiro, whose process includes a glaze that beads up when it's fired which creates an absolutely incredible wet-looking texture to the sculpture. I don't know if that comes across as clearly in the plot that it inspired, but for one of my first larger-form plots, I'm pretty happy with it. This is large at 19" x 24". . For those interested in the tools side of making this plot, I decided I wanted to test out the Charlie pen that comes free with the Heart of Darkness ink from Noodler's. I had only super briefly written with it once, and it was an incredibly wet pen, and I didn't think too much of it. It is, however, an eyedropper style fountain pen, which means it can hold a metric ass-ton of ink, which is necessary for how much it dumps out in use. I wanted to see if it would be able to stand up to long plots on my A1 sized plotter. The nib on mine makes a nice 0.35mm line. I had never thought that the Heart of Darkness ink was really all that black until I used it with this pen, and now it's a whole different story. I'll definitely come back to using this tool more frequently. :)
